Second Liberal MLA quits Christy Clark government

A second Liberal MLA has quit the government of B.C. Premier Christy Clark.  Iain Black, who had been demoted from cabinet after she became premier, will leave government to take a job as chief executive officer of the Vancouver Board of Trade, Clark said in Vancouver Wednesday.  Black, who was first elected in 2009, had previously served as minister in the portfolios of labour and small business. Clark shifted him to parliamentary secretary for public transportation after she was sworn in as premier in March.  Last Thursday, longtime MLA Barry Penner quit as attorney general, saying he didn't plan to run in the next election and wanted to spend more time with his wife and baby daughter.  Liberal MLAs have been asked to fill in their nomination papers in advance of a provincial election, which isn't due until 2013, but Clark has said she may go to the polls earlier.

Quit? More likely he gave up his seat for Cristy Clark to go back to. Iain Black astutely traded his seat for a nice job with a better future.

Perhaps the writer didn't read between the lines, in that Mr. Black is becoming the CEO of the Vancouver Board of Trade.

This is a well paying position with the potential of providing contacts for his future.
