Employment Opportunity - Vernon City Council.

2011 General Local Government Elections - November 19th

The Council Remuneration Summary posted on the City's website gives an indication of the Remuneration that a Mayor or Councillor could receive. There is an upcoming remuneration review by a citizen's review committee that may cause these Pay amounts to change for the 2012 -2014 Council Years.(up or down). The Base Pay Totals are for the 2010 years and remain unchanged in 2011. (Note that 1/3 of Base Pay is Tax Free.)

The meeting pay is the potential pay that a Mayor or Councillor could receive if he attended 34  Committee Meetings as Mayor or 32 Meetings as a Councillor. (They were based on a 2009 study of estimated meetings of Council and are an average # of meetings attended by all Council).

This meeting pay is for City of Vernon standing and select committees. (14 different committees). (NORD committees are a separate pay envelope and are paid by NORD to appointed Council members to NORD and GVS. and are not part of the 2010 Council schedule).

Council members have the option of claiming meeting pay at the $137/ meeting rate. (1/3 tax free).
