Vernon
Mayor Wayne Lippert admits he's a little frustrated after three
provincial cabinet ministers turned down meetings with city officials at
this month's UBCM convention. Lippert says this has never happened
before. He's been told it's a timing issue with two ministers, Blair
Leckstrom and Pat Bell, while Ida Chong says she's met with Vernon
enough. However Lippert says a little salve has been applied to the
wound. He expects his meeting with Premier Christy Clark to last about 15
minutes, the time allotted to municipal leaders attending the
conference. Lippert says that discussion with Clark could centre on governance, transit and her favourite, `families first' policies.
