The
31st Avenue road project in downtown Vernon is going to take a little
longer to complete, according to a City engineer. Mark Dowhaniuk says
the City and BC Transit have been involved in some changes to the design
of the bus terminal by Cenotaph Park. That's due in part to efforts to
save one of the big trees.Dowhaniuk also says that early on in the
project, there was some trouble finding old utility lines. He admits
things are ``a little behind'' but, if the weather holds for paving,
work is expected to wrap up later in November. Dowhaniuk says one extra
step will involve pouring concrete pads by the park to ensure the road
can hold the weight of the heavy transit buses.
