We will start to find out today who will be running for city councils, regional districts and school boards. The ten day nomination period starts at 9AM, and runs until October 14that 4PM, with voting on November 19th. Vernon could have a five way race for mayor if the people who took-out nomination packages are any indication. The newest name is Bill Howard, who joins Lew Rossner, Rob Sawatzky, Patrick Davies and two term mayor Wayne Lippert. 16 people have taken out councillor packages, with the latest being Brian Quiring, Scott Anderson and James Robert Todd. Quiring placed 7th out of 13 candidates in 2008, missing out on a seat by 51 votes to Shawn Lee. Lee has taken out a nomination package along with fellow incumbents Jack Gilroy, Patrick Nicol, Mary Jo O'Keefe, and Bob Spiers. Buffy Baumbrough has said she won't seek a third term, the only member of the current council not to put their name in again. Other who have received the packages are Lilly Kerr, Kelly Fehr,
Jamie Morrow, Ruth Hoyte, Carolyn Radics, Juliette Cunningham, Lyle
Doucette and Catherine Lord. Jeanne Boekelheide has returned her package.
