Bed Battle Continues

The pressure is still being put on the province for more bed funding at Vernon's hospital.  Medical staff president Dr Ed Hardy says the new tower is excellent, but it doesn't provide any new in-patient beds. He says "That has been our crunch for the last couple of years, we just don't have enough beds to put patients in and we have the new tower open but no new beds so we're still overcrowded." Hardy says operations are still being cancelled when the beds are full.  MLA Eric Foster says Health Minister Mike de Jong recently told local politicians he supports the need for more beds,  but its just a matter of finding the funding to complete the two shelled-in floors, an estimated 40 million dollars.
