NORD Buys Property Beside Kalavista Boat Launch - No plans yet for property, says Vernon's mayor

A piece of property next to the Kalavista boat launch has been bought by the North Okanagan Regional District for $875-thousand, according to Vernon Mayor Wayne Lippert. He says there are no plans for the `log cabin site' while the buildings are assessed and, possibly, knocked down. Lippert says the property may be used for green space or to deal with overcrowding around the launch site. ``The general feeling was it could help alleviate possibly some room for coming off the boat launch, (to leave) a little bit on the road for tieups and stuff but the majority of the feeling was to leave it as greenspace...close to the lake,'' says Lippert.  The mayor says directors voted unanimously to buy the land by Kal Lake which, he says, is for all Greater Vernon residents to enjoy.
