'Shake Out BC' takes place today. It's a province wide earthquake drill at 10:20 this morning, where people are encouraged to drop, cover and hold. Helen Sinclair with North Okanagan Emergency Management says after
you cover yourself with something solid, the hold part is also
important, for at least one minute. She says "things can still be very unsteady in your environment, like
your bookcase, your shelves, what have you, that can still be very
unsteady and there also can be further aftershocks." Sinclair says quakes are not expected in our area but people should
be prepared should they travel to the coast or other countries.
