Not much is expected to happen today as a Greater Venron water contamination case makes its way into Vernon court. The Regional District of North Okanagan, Coldstream and Pan-o-Ramic Farms and its owner, Rod Palfrey, are to make first appearances on charges linked to tainted water in the Antwerp Spring source. Almost four-thousand Coldstream and Lavington homes were under a Do Not Drink order for an extended period, after animal waste got into the system in January 2010. RDNO administrator Trafford Hall says their lawyers are still discussing their legal strategy for the case, including how they will plea, and if they will fight the charges. He tells KISS FM, they're not going to get into a costly "slug fest" with the province at the expense of taxpayers, with no public good coming out of it, if they can find a cleaner negotiated ending. Hall says RDNO's objectives are to minimize the cost to taxpayers and staff resources, and to keep the agency's reputation in tact. The charges are under the water protection and environment acts.
