No big surprises on the first day for candidates to file to run for Vernon council. Two term incumbent Wayne Lippert and retired doctor Rob Sawatsky officially put their names in for mayor. Four signed-up for councillor including incumbent Jack Gilroy, along with Catherine Lord, Lilly Kerr and Kelly Fehr.
Regional District of North Okanagan had just one person filing: Eugene Foisy, the lone time director for for Area E Cherryville. All other North Okanagan communities had no candidates come forward on the opening day. The deadline for nominations is 4pm on October 14th.
