Update On Water Charges

Vernon Law CourtsThe parties accused of mishandling part of Greater Vernon's water system have been given more time to prepare their cases. The Regional District of North Okanagan, District of Coldstream, Pan-O-Ramic Farms and farm owner Rod Palfrey, made first court appearances Thursday in Vernon.  They each face four charges after a foreign substance--thought to be animal waste--got into the Antwerp Spring source in January 2010.  It lead to a 'Do Not Drink' water order, for more than a thousand Coldstream homes, for more than a week. The charges under the water protection and environment acts have been put over until December 15th, when an arraignment hearing is scheduled.
