The RCMP is currently investigating a hit and run incident in Vernon Friday night. Around 11:30 p.m. Friday, a vehicle hit a light standard in the area of 43rd Avenue and 20th Street. Police learned the car went off the road and struck a light pole, knocking it over and breaking its lights. "Shortly after, the vehicle was located about 40 metres away in a parking lot," says RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk. The people in the offending vehicle fled the scene, and investigators are following up with the vehicle's registered owner. Witnesses tell Castanet that there looked to be a lot of damage in the
area, and that those responsible had to push their car away from the
scene of the crash before getting in and driving away.
