Two Vernon residents are being called
superheroes. Crime Prevention leaders from throughout BC were honoured
at the annual Solicitor General Community Safety and Crime Prevention
Awards. Vernon's RCMP Sergeant Robb Daly was among those mentioned as
well as Debby Hamilton, Executive Director of the Vernon Women's
Transition House. Hamilton and Sergeant Daly were instrumental in the
development ICAT (Integrated Case Assessment Team) - a process that
increases safety for domestic violence victims and holds offenders
accountable. The program also allows government and social agencies to share
information to pinpoint high risk domestic violence victims and
offenders. The Solicitor General's award recognizes excellence and
leadership in crime prevention and community safety. Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Fosters says Daly and Hamilton have set an
incredible example with the development of ICAT. The system is a model
for other communities throughout the province.
