2012 Sewer Rates to be Determined in Coldstream Tonight.

The Base Rate will be raised in Coldstream for Sewer from $54.19 /Quarter to $56.45. (Raise of $2.26 per quarter)  The consumption charge is being raised based on your quarter consumption of water from $2.31 /m3 to 2.51 /m3.  (Raise of 20 cents/m3)

Don Quixote Note: An interesting note is how Coldstream ensures that all "Snowbirds" pay a fair share for their consumption charge on each bill. There is no 20 m3 for free in the first quarter as Vernon uses in their calculation. In Coldstream if you use less than 15m3 of water (i.e. for example 4 m3) you get charged for 15 m3 regardless at the rate of 2.51 m3 = $37.65 Consumption Charge plus a base fee $56.45 for a total charge =$94.10.  This is in effect  minimum monthly charge for sewer in Coldstream.

Contrast that for the "snowbird " in Vernon who consumes the same 4m3 of water or any amount less than 20m3 in first quarter who gets charged only a base fee of $48.98. (first 20m3 of water consumption in first quarter is free.)

Sewer Rates in Coldstream will be (56.45-48.98 = $7.47) for Quarterly base rate and (2.51-2.45 =6 cents per m3 for first quarter consumption charged as  a consumption charge on all subsequent quarters.
