The Regional District of North Okanagan welcomes some new members to its inaugural meeting today. Vernon mayor Rob Sawatzky will be at his first RDNO meeting, and is looking to show the city is willing to work with their neighbors. "Absolutely. We always try to send a message with what we do everyday. You try to do a body of work that sends a message that you're working with integrity, honesty and the best wishes of the community at large." A new chair of the regional district board will also be chosen at today's meeting.
The new leader is needed after Herman Halvorson didn't seek reelection. Rural Lumby Area D director Rick Fairbairn (pictured) could be one of the candidates after his recent stint as vice chair. The board will welcome a couple of new members with Bob Fleming the new director in Area B, Swan Lake-BX, and Jackie Pearase taking over for Halvorson in Area F rural Enderby.
