School Trustees Pass On Pay Hike

Vernon School District trustees are rejecting a pay increase for the coming year. Board chair Bill Turanski says normal policy is for the board reps to get an increase matching the inflation rate.  "This year the BC consumer price index indicates that living costs are up by 2.8 percent. Normally that would mean (the trustees) would get a 2.8 percent increase."However Turanski says due to the economic situation, and the zero mandate for public sector employers, the board has agreed not to take any increase at all.
