A Vernon councillor doesn't think a lack of full service gas stations is an issue in the city. Independent Living wants all stations to provide one-third of their
fueling services as full service, to make it safer and easier for
seniors, and people with disabilities Councillor Brian Quiring feels that's unrealistic. "Based on the statistics supplied to me by Vernon Esso, it's a very
small percentage of people that would require that service, and there's
currently two stations in Vernon of the 21 in total) that provide that
service. (Super Saves)" He says people can also phone ahead and book a full service fill-up, at no extra cost. However councillor Juliette Cunningham says there may still be
concerns, so Independent Living will be invited to outline its issues at
a future council meeting. "Obviously there's concerns but I don't know to what extent there are
concerns, and I want to hear how other communities have addressed that.
I would prefer we do it in a pro- active way rather than wait until
there is a real issue."
