Vernon's new library to open in less than 3 months

Kelowna Daily Courier Saturday, 18 February 2012 02:00
Vernon's new $13.7-million library will open in late April or early May. No library services will be available in Vernon for approximately one week before the opening, as equipment and materials are shipped over to the new building. The new, two-storey branch on 30th Avenue covers 2,787 square metres. Meanwhile, the opening date for an enlarged West Kelowna library in the Westridge Mall has been pushed back somewhat, from May to the end of June. Its size will be increased from 557 to 929 square metres. The slight delay is so Okanagan Regional Library board support workers can concentrate on the Vernon project before shifting their attention to West Kelowna. Ted Baciealupo, representing the Columbia-Shuswap regional district, was re-elected chairman at Wednesday's ORL board meeting. The ORL operates 29 libraries from Golden to Osoyoos.
