Budget Going Back To The Public

The city of Vernon's new budget will have one more round of public input, before its finalized by council.  An open house will be held at City Hall March 12th from 4:30 to 5:30, followed by a public input session that night. Councillor Bob Spiers would like to lower the proposed two percent tax hike, but he will wait to hear what the public says. "If they come up with some good ideas that we've overlooked, I'll try to do it, but I don't think I'll get too far." Under the schedule approved by council Monday, the first three readings of the budget would happen March 26, and final approval would be on April 10. If it's approved as is, the average city homeowner would pay an extra 20 dollars.
