Cherry Ridge slide impacts Shuswap River
April 24, 2012
During
the early hours of Tuesday morning, a rock and mudslide poured down
from the upper reaches of Cherry Ridge to the 12 km mark on Sugar Lake
Road. The slide forced one family from their home and other residents
are afraid that a larger piece of the hillside is at risk. MVS was at
the scene today to explore with residents the possibility that the
slide may be the result of large scale logging which may have caused
unnatural erosion within the area. The slide debris has now made its way
to the Shuswap River.
Don Quixote Note: My valley Sun has a great article on the Cherry Ridge Slide including pictures.
