BC Transit has asked students at Vernon Christian School to write or draw "what BC Transit means to me." Three winners will be revealed by Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster, Vernon Mayor Robert Sawatzky and BC Transit President & CEO Manuel Achadinha. The winning submissions will either be on display in one of our new shelters or will be featured on BC Transit's next Vernon rider's guide. "Our city is growing rapidly and the new exchange will provide a greater convenience to transit riders, "said Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster. "The expanded service is a welcome addition to a service that is making transit a much more attractive alternative than hopping behind the wheel of a car." "The City of Vernon is pleased to be fulfilling the top priority of Vernon residents identified in the 2008 Official Community Plan by funding expansion to Transit. Today we celebrate both the opening of the new downtown exchange and the expansion of service into the evenings helping the residents and visitors access the shops, businesses and recreation facilities in Vernon," said Vernon Mayor Robert Sawatzky. "BC Transit is responding to the needs of the City of Vernon and our customers who want more service hours," said BC Transit President & CEO Manuel Achadinha. "The dedicated men and women who drive BC Transit buses will be volunteering to ensure the transition to the new exchange and the expanded service is as smooth as possible."
