Police and Vernon bylaw officers have had about 30 complaints about two men selling electronic items out of a Dodge Caravan, often from local mall parking lots. The RCMP's Gord Molendyk says the pair is mostly selling Bernelli and Paramax brand TV's, projectors, and sound systems. He says it's a case of buyer beware. "Although they are not breaking a criminal law because the product is not stolen, they are taking advantage of people looking for a good deal. Some people may be a bit naive to the fact an individual is selling out of the back of a vehicle, and that should send some bells and whistles off." Molendyk says the same products can be bought cheaper on the Internet. "They are sold out of the vehicle at a greatly increased price, so it's buyer beware." He adds the men ---who have been selling for a couple months--- are very convincing salesmen. He says they are breaking a city bylaw as they don't have a business license to operate. "Everyone likes to get a good deal, but we remind everyone, if it appears to good to be true, it likely is." Molendyk says one person, who bought a product, told a bylaw officer there was a warranty offered, as long as you go to the Internet site provided and fill out the required forms, which is when he learned the true value.
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
