Armstrong Urged To Stay In RDNO Function

Building Inspection New Tax
Written by Glen Morrison 107.5 KISSFM Tuesday, 17 July 2012 15:38 The potential loss of a subscriber to the North Okanagan Regional District's building inspection service is raising alarm bells for Lumby mayor Kevin Acton. He tells Kiss FM, "If Armstrong leaves that will leave a huge gap, and that will mean a big increase for the rest of the participants. We're hoping we can satisfy Armstrong's needs before they pull out of the function." Armstrong isn't happy with a one percent tax levy proposed by RDNO to help the sagging revenues of the department, which has been funded by charges to developers. Acton says he would prefer user pay himself, and notes the department has been making changes. "They've been doing some good work, so I'm hoping to see everybody kind of happy at the end of the day." Vernon and Coldstream have their own independent inspection departments.
