Polson TowerWork on adding up to 60 more beds to the top two floors of the Polson Tower at Vernon Jubilee Hospital could be coming sooner than later. MLA Eric Foster says the planning is nearly done, and he's anticipating a call for tenders in less than a month. "I would be disappointed if we weren't a lot further along than that in a month," he tells KISS FM. Foster says a cost of at least 20 million dollars is still being used as a general figure. "It's a number that's kind of thrown around. You don't know what the number is until the plans are all done and it goes out to tender, but those were sort of ball park numbers that were thrown around." Health Minister Mike de Jong made the announcement last April 27th that planning for adding capacity at the hospital was getting underway.  Interior Health officials and hospital staff are hoping the additional beds will end the ongoing issue of overcrowding.
