Vernon, Okanagan Landing and forestry crews have a grass fire behind the regional landfill contained. It was first reported about 9:30 this morning. Vernon fire chief Keith Green says it may have burned a hectare or two. He says a lack of wind and a quick response from a helicopter in establishing a water guard around the edge were keys. He says the cause is under investigation. Crews will remain on the site for some time looking for hot spots.
