Noah and Raine Lepin are living proof of Cops for Kids generosity.
Noah, 6, has a state-of-the-art hearing aid thanks to Cops for Kids and
four-year-old Raine's bills for specialty formula when he was a baby (he
couldn't digest any breast milk or proteins) were paid for by Cops for
Kids.
To show their appreciation the young brothers - along with their parents
Aaron and Christie - were in the Orchard Park mall parking lot Sunday
to welcome Cops for Kids cyclists back from a gruelling 10-day 900
kilometre fundraising ride throughout southeastern B.C.
"Medical insurance doesn't cover this kind of stuff so without Cops for
Kids we would have had to have gone into huge debt," said mom Christie.
"We're so thankful."
After first thanking the cyclists, the boys' attention turned to posing for pictures with the RCMP Safety Bear mascot.
Every fall for 12 years now a team of about 20 cops from throughout the
Southeast Division of the RCMP do a Kelowna roundtrip cycling odyssey
that stops in 18 communities.
Only cops that raise a bunch of money with pledges get to ride and money is raised along the way.
This year's total raised hit $215,000 - $25,000 more than last year.
"We need that money because this year we're going to help 95 kids with
medical conditions," pointed out Cops for Kids organizer Gail Harrison.(more)
