Fire crews have been called to a report of a structure fire at 3617 9th Street, which is in the East Hill area, near Silver Star School. Vernon Fire Rescue are at the scene.

Another call out today for Vernon fire crews. They were dispatched to East Hill just after 4 this afternoon on a report of a structure fire in the 36-hundred block of 9th Street, near Silver Star School. Deputy fire chief Jack Blair says it appears a power driven attic vent on a roof had some sort of malfunction and caught fire, causing black smoke. Blair says a neighbor jumped on the to roof to suppress it, and then fire crews arrived to get it under control.
