Legion Closing Bar, Looking At Move

Written by Peter McIntyre Tuesday, 30 April 2013 17:22
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 VernonVernon's Royal Canadian Legion is facing a couple of changes as it deals with a financial crunch. President John Miller says the business side of their operation, the bar, will be closing down, because it's losing money, but they will maintain their charter. He says there's also plans to move to another site, if they have to.
"We're still negotiating with the landlord. There is a possibility we can stay in the office we're in now, but I don't know if that would work at his end of it." To raise money, the 650 member branch will hold a 'Save the Legion Charter' event at their site at 4609 29th Street Sunday, with auctions, bands, a pancake breakfast, and BBQ.
