"All indications show there wasn't anything of interest. We are waiting for a letter of confirmaton from them to formally indicate that the site was clear," says Pinkoski. The land may have been used for military training in the past. Pinkoski says a study to check for archeological items will be next. "Our expectation is that we'll begin some of the civil works on the site in September or early October, pre-load the site or excavate so we can deal with any potential settlement on the site ahead of time." Greater Vernon voters approved borrowing up to the 7.5 million dollars for the track and field venue by a 52% margin in a referendum April 6.
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)

Local politicians are getting close to choosing a project manager for the new sports facility planned for land next to Okanagan College. Regional District of North Oknagan Parks planner Keith Pinkoski says a committee overseeing the project has short listed the list of potential firms down to four. "We have potentially one in mind. That will have to go to the board for ratification and once we've done some background references checks, that information will be provided to the public," says Pinkoski. Meantime, a check by a contractor for the Department of National Defence found no signs of unexploded ordinances at the site
