A Vernon resident is among 13 British Columbians who will receive the order of BC. Dr. Finley Armanious was an an intensive care physician for 30 years, and his vision led to the new intensive care unit and cardiac care floor at Vernon Jubilee Hospital which is named in his honour. The 86 year old Armanious has also worked to raise funds for the hospital including starting the Dr. Peter Armanious Walk and Run in honour of his son who was killed in a 1992 car crash. Lt-Gov Juditch Guichon says the order of BC is the province's most prestigious accolade. "It is an opportunity to publicly recognize those who have dedicated themselves to bettering the lives of their fellow citizens. These recipients exemplify the positive difference one person can make in a community and are an inspiration to all British Columbians."
