A Vernon man was the victim of plane crash near the BC-Alberta border. 62 year old Yves Rene was the pilot and sole occupant aboard a Cessna 182 float plane that apparently crashed while taking off from Fortress Lake in Hamber Provincial Park west of Jasper, Alberta on Friday. An emergency location transmitter signal came from the plane at 1:45 that afternoon. "When search-and-rescue personnel attended the crash site shortly afterward, they found Mr. Rene to be deceased at the scene," states a news release from Donita Kuzma, Regional Coroner, Northern Region. The Coroners Service, Transportation Safety Board and RCMP are investigating the death.
