by Adam Proskiw - Kelowna - CASTANET Aug 25, 2013 / 8:25 pm  A grass fire that started in an industrial area of Vernon Sunday night quickly spread to a nearby auto scrap yard where it involved more than a dozen, already-destroyed 'scrap' vehicles. Twenty members of Vernon Fire Rescue fought the blaze, which broke out on Sunday at around 5:30 p.m. in the 4500 block of 31 St. Initial reports are that the fire may have started in a 'transient camp', but that has not been confirmed as the investigation is still under way. According to Capt. Mann of Vernon Fire, "there are quite a number of transients living in the area but actual cause has not yet been identified." Further details will be released as they become available.
