Most accept the SOEC parking fee with ease

Tuesday, 06 August 2013 02:00 JAMES MILLER Penticton Herald: Paid parking made its South Okanagan Events Centre debut, Saturday, and concert-goers said a $10 fee won't keep them home in the future.  Signage was well marked and attendants courteous as $10 per vehicle was collected for the Alan Jackson concert. Penticton City Council recently approved parking fees for major events only and hockey games will remain free.  In an informal poll done prior to the concert, reaction ranged from disliking the fee but living with it to welcoming it as a revenue source. There didn't appear to be any outraged customers.
SOEC general manager Dean Clarke said the parking receipt had a $5 gift certificate to Dairy Queen and it's hoped that "value-added" promos will be included for each event. He said everyone who purchased tickets on-line received e-mail reminders and for those without cash, a bank machine is located across the street. (more)
