With just one week to go to collect sufficient support for its cannabis campaign, Sensible BC is bringing the facts to town tonight. Vernon-Monashee campaign organizers are hosting an education forum at the Fairfield Inn and Suites tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. (in the Swan Lake Meeting Room). Everyone is welcome to attend the limited seating event which will feature the following guest speakers: Dana Larsen, Sensible BC director; David Kennedy, retired MD and member of Stop the Violence BC; The Herbal-Health Centre and several testimonials. In order to be successful, Sensible BC needs the signatures of 10 per cent of registered voters in each riding (approximately 4,200 for the Vernon-Monashee riding) by Dec. 5. Although that number has been reached in some neighbouring jurisdictions such as Penticton, Vernon-Monashee has not yet reached the target. If organizers can collect the more than 400,000 signatures from across B.C. by Dec. 5 then a referendum to decriminalize marijuana possession will take place in 2014.
