The initial Avenue Market Friday in Vernon was a success according to the Downtown Vernon Association's executive director. Lara Konkin says it was fantastic, and one of the best community events she's seen in a long time. "I couldn't be more happier with the turnout from vendors, participants, and our merchants downtown. I am overwhelmed with the support for the market on Friday," she tells Kiss FM. Konkin says despite the weather, some vendors sold out in half the time they were open, and people were showing up at closing hoping they'd stay open, and there were lots of them. She says with that showing, they hope to close off more that the two blocks they had used, enabling more foot traffic through the area east of 32nd Street on 30th Avenue, not just to the west.
