An idea to limit through traffic on a secondary north-south Vernon route, is not sitting well with some elected reps. City staff are getting public input on changes to 25th Street from Pleasant Valley Road to 46th Avenue. Acting mayor Juliette Cunningham says 66 percent of residents in the affected area would have to approve the change, for it to proceed. She says "Residents have always been concerned that people are speeding along there using it as an alternative to 27th street, so staff is looking at ways to minimize the impact on the neighborhood." Cunningham doesn't support the idea "It doesn't sound to me like we were totally aware of the implications of what was being suggested in terms of no through traffic going through there ." Staff say that road's main purpose is to provide access for residents, not to give vehicles another north-south travelling option.

There was a good turnout at the staff presentation for the residents near 25th.I wonder if the City Council will support the residents preference ? Cheers Shawn Lee
