Four In Conservative Race

Four candidates will vie for the Okanagan-Shuswap Conservative nomination next month. Mel Arnold (Salmon Arm), Scott Anderson (Vernon), Linda Green (Lumby-Vernon), and Wayne Lippert (Vernon) are running to take over the spot currently held by Colin Mayes since 2006. Association president Linda Hawes says members will vote October 3 in Salmon Arm and the next day at the Schubert Centre in Vernon. "And following the close of the polls at 7, and the count, will be the announcement and speech, and a minor celebration," says Hawes. Hawes says the sign up period for candidates was September 4 and for signing new members was September 11. "Now its just them getting out, and making sure their support gets out on the voting days," says Hawes. Jacqui Gingras is the NDP candidate, with the Liberals and Greens to chose their reps later, for the next federal election just over a year from now, in October 2015.
