We will start to find out soon who is actually running for local councils, regional districts and school boards. The official nomination period starts Tuesday and runs until October 10, with election day November 15. Two time NDP provincial candidate Mark Olsen is running for Vernon councilor, the 9th person to declare a run, along with five for mayor. The CUPE school support president says one priority is getting good paying jobs to keep young families here. Olsen says he tired once before to run for Vernon council. Candidates for councils have to be 18, a Canadian citizen, and a resident of BC for at least 6 months. In 2011, three ran for Vernon mayor, and 15 for councillor.
