There's no plans for a highway bypass around Vernon for at least the next 25 years. The project isn't included in the city's long term plan for consideration by the BC government. Councillor Bob Spiers has been told by staff, a line in the report will indicate the bypass is something that will be needed in the future. "It may be 25, 30 or 40 years, but if you don't put it on the map, the province won't look at it," says Spiers. Spiers says another highway route will be needed to deal with growing traffic levels.
