Several candidates are off and running for municipal councils in the North Okanagan. Today is the first day nominations are accepted, with the deadline on October 10. In Vernon, Klaus Tribes has filed papers to run for mayor, one of five expected candidates. The former city councillor and restaurant owner was also the first to declare his intentions, announcing his run back in April.Two candidates have filed for councillor on this first day of nominations: Art Gourley and one term incumbent Brian Quiring. Six councillor positions are up for grabs in Vernon.
In Coldstream, two have filed for councillor: one term incumbent Peter McLean, and newcomer Shane Hillman.
Two filed for RDNO seats, former director Herman Halvorsen for Enderby Rural, area F and incumbent Bob Fleming for area B. Civic elections in BC will be held November 15.
