Work Starts On Cherry Ridge Logging Road

A contractor has started work on a disputed logging road near Cherryville. RDNO Director Eugene Foisy says the heavy equipment was brought in yesterday afternoon with a police escort. "I'm hoping that no one starts getting ridiculous and violent, because really you don't gain anything doing that, I think we've made a point of, you know, we feel we're being bullied, and I think it's the province that has to step in and at least give us an opportunity to be heard." he says. At issue is residents fears logging the Cherry Ridge area could cause landslides, something they want further studied before an access road is put in, something rejected by the province. Foisy says they are prepared to fund a study but now the community will have to decide what to do.
