Friday night markets in downtown Vernon will proceed this summer, despite lingering concerns.Council gave unanimous approval to close parts of 30th Avenue for the events from June 12th to mid September after a DVA survey showed 93 percent of affected merchants support them. Councillor Catherine Lord says the city had several complaints from businesses who wanted to remain confidential. "They've been very careful about how they phrased their complaint and that it remain confidential, so to me that indicates there's something still missing and I really want the DVA to take a look at that and address those concerns themselves," says Lord. The city will conduct an anonymous survey in October to get feedback on the market's impact.
