It appears opposition to the plan for Highway 97 and Stickle Road north of Vernon, has been heard. Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster has been lobbying Transportation Minister Todd Stone to consider other options instead of the right-in, right-out plan backed by ministry officials. "I just got out of a meeting with the Minister of Transportation. The Stickle Road plan as it was introduced at the public meeting (last week), is on hold," Foster tells Kiss FM. Foster says they are working on changes, but doesn't elaborate. He has said previously there are two or three options for the site, with his biggest concern the increased traffic the ministry's plan would put on Pleasant Valley Road. Local politicians, businesses in that area, and members of the public have been calling for a traffic light at that intersection.
