Candidate forum in Vernon

by Darren Handschuh CASTANET - Aug 3, 2015 / 5:00 am
The Harper government announced it is calling a national election for Oct. 19, making it one of the longest campaigns in Canadian history. North Okanagan-Shuswap voters will have a chance to meet candidates during a public forum Sept. 14 at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre starting at 7 p.m. The forum will provide an opportunity for candidates to state their platforms, and for the public to ask questions both in written form and in an open mic. Pete McIntyre, news director at 107.5 KISS FM will be the moderator for the forum. The forum is free to attend, although donations are accepted for the Children's Theatre Fund. Any donations made will be matched by the Performing Arts Centre Society and used to purchase Children's Theatre tickets that will be distributed to families otherwise unable to attend performances. Cindy Derkaz will hoist the Liberal banner in October with Jacqui Gringras representing the NDP, Mel Arnold will carry the Conservative flag and Chris George will represent the Green Part.
