Race Track Resolution Still Ongoing

Vernon's mayor admits one of the city's big goals for this year, won't be met. Akbal Mund says, despite some progress, a deal to solve the legal stalemate for Kin Race Track, is not possible before the end of the year. "This is one of the things we wanted to get done this year, but I can understand with all the other things we've had, like the referendum and other issues that have come up, we just didn't have enough time." Mund says, despite some progress, a deal to solve the dispute with the Okanagan Equestrian Society is taking longer than expected. "They are passionate people I understand, so I am not too concerned that if we don't come to a resolution that we may not abe able to solve it again, but at everybody will know that we have made a big effort this year to come to a resolution on this issue this year." Mund now admits a resolution will take longer, but he says talks continue with the Okanagan Equestrian Society, with another meeting in January. "There's always a solution possible which if you don't try and come to a resolve you will never find out, so we will try and see what happens." The society has been in a legal fight for several years to keep the site for horse racing, while the city would like to use the land for recreation facilities.
