Cycling into public favour

by Kate Bouey - CASTANET Apr 19, 2016 / 3:41 pm
The North Okanagan Cycling Society is asking for public support over what it sees as the need for a bike skills park. The society says its efforts to have a park built has been hampered by the lack of location. “Despite discussions with the City of Vernon and times when it seemed we had a location pinned down at Marshall Field, we find our dream facility facing ongoing uncertainty,” reads a society press release. “We are requesting our membership and any of your friends who believe a bike skills park would be a valuable asset to our community to support our call to the City of Vernon to provide us with a firm location." An electronic petition has also been set up. The group wants a park “where children and youth can develop a passion for mountain biking and hone the skills they need to take our sport to the next level.” A presentation to Vernon city council will be made in council chambers on Apr. 25 at 1:30 p.m.
