The mayor and councillors in Spallumcheen are getting raises. Administration did a review of ten other municipalities in BC of similar size and population including Peachland, Oliver and Osoyoos. They found out the pay scale being followed was below the average from those ten. As a result, the mayor is getting a raise from $19,369 to $24,811, and councillors see their remuneration move from $9,685 to $13,506. Overall the salaries for mayor and council jump from a total of $77,479 last year to $105,847 for 2016. Future council raises are also tied to the BC Consumer Price Index.
