A new ranch hand is joining Historic O'Keefe Ranch. Holly J. Wood has joined the ranch as marketing and event specialist. Wood brings with her more than 30 years of experience in the tourism industry in both Alberta and B.C. Wood has an extensive background in international travel media relations, brand management, film production, tourism marketing and large-scale event management. She spent 16 years as the regional public relations director for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts in Alberta, representing five of the signature hotels and resorts. In 2009, Wood moved to Vernon to provide media relations, marketing and tourism advisory services as a member of the development team that opened the Sparkling Hill Resort. In recent years, Wood has contracted to hotels and destination marketing organizations throughout the Okanagan. “Heritage tourism is one of the fastest growing segments of the tourism industry. It has a positive social and economic impact on a community, while securing a sense of place among visitors,” she said. “This is a wonderful opportunity for me to combine my work life with my passion for horses and Western heritage. It is an honour to be part of the team at O’Keefe Ranch, who work hard every day, preserving the historic legacy of the ranch.” When not at work, Holly spends her time riding her horse, Sunny Boy and walking her 90-pound Anatolian Shepherd, Magic Mike. Wood is a member of Vernon Women in Business, as well as the TOTA advisory committee for trade and media.
