Stall Doors Destruction Upsets Society

The President of the Okanagan Equestrian Society says the City of Vernon has purposely destroyed some 200 stall doors at the former Kin Race Track for no reason. Robin Dalziel says the City went too far in trying to eliminate conditions at the track that resulted in a homeless camp being set up there. "It's absolutely unbelievable that they have destroyed every stall door when it would have taken less time to remove and protect them." Dalziel, says the doors could have all been saved. " It would take two minutes to pop one piece of wood off and you could have removed the door in tact. They ruined every single stall door!" Dalziel says the City went ahead wrecking the doors without any consultation with her Society. "We had locks in a box for every single door. We could have locked up every single stall door on the grounds, but prior to doing this they had no contact with us." Dalziel says taxpayers could be on the hook for over $150-thousand dollars to replace the doors which she estimates cost about $800 each to build.
