City of Vernon wants your opinion on skateboards, roller blades, and non-motorized scooters

VERNON - Residents are being asked for input on new rules for skateboards, longboards and other human-powered transportation devices in Vernon. The city is reviewing its bylaws, which don’t allow skateboards, longboards, or roller skates on sidewalks and roads, after an appeal from local enthusiasts to change the rules. Residents are asked to participate in an online survey to help create the new bylaw, which will cover skateboards, longboards, roller skates, roller blades, non-motorized scooters and bicycles ridden by children age 12 and under. Local boarders say there is a large skateboarding community in Vernon, and they feel the current rules are discriminatory to their form of transportation.
Fill out the survey here until Sept. 25.
